…Gutierrez Colosía , the very fine producer in El Puerto de Santa María. The average age of these wines is at least 40 years and the wine is a complexly concentrated elegant thing of finesse and beauty.

We drank this wine with home-cooking style Japanese food. It was great with everything, but drinking it with these fried oysters with miso and seaweed was among the most thrilling and delicious pairings I experienced all year. Savory briny sweet complex harmony.

I ate dinner with …

…traditional to grow Tempranillo in Napa or Cabernet in Santa Maria, but you're welcome to do so. The AVA just specifies where the grapes are grown, and it's up to you to make your case for the quality of the end product. And central to the growing significance of terroir has been wineries' efforts to support their claims to quality by geographic designation. The key difference with the Tenuta Santa Maria Soave was the richness, a result of three different pickings in the vineyard (early, mid, and late) that adds complexity. About five grams of RS.

Giovanni was so nice, modest, and helpful ... he explained all the vintages which were expertly paired with such fabulous traditional Italian cuisine. He is really a great ambassador for his family and his wines ... and really takes pride in the quality approach to wine making, even though the quality …

Jerez, Sevilla, Cadiz, El Puerto de Santa María, and Sanlúcar de Barrameda, as part of a press trip . What a superb journey, with incredible food, wines and people. It was my favorite trip of the year, and I have so many find memories of the region. From the Arabic baths to flamenco dancing, from baby eels to sherry (lots of sherry). Plus, it was very educational, and my passion for sherry grew even greater. I highly recommend that you visit this region of Spain!

…including Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María , and Sanlúcar de Barrameda . My journey was part of a journalist trip, sponsored by the Sherry Council of America , and I was accompanied by five other writers from across the country. We visited nine sherry bodegas, tasting a wide and diverse variety of sherries, both with and without food.

I have recently written over a dozen articles about sherry and my trip, and felt it would be very helpful to my readers …

…of Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María, and Sanlúcarde Barrameda. The term "sherry" deserves respect and protection, the same we give to such names as " Champagne"and "Port." Though other countries produce wines they call sherries, they are not true sherries. It was recently good to see Australia making a big stride to respect the name "sherry," by renaming their sherry-like wines as Apera . It is also important to note …
