…dropped out and began working on raising red snapper. He eventually became involved in a project on Puerto Rico, experimenting with snapper and cobia. Cobia excelled, outperforming all of the other fish, but the region was not as conducive as Brian desired. So he hunted for a new area and around 2007, he selected Panama, and established Open Blue.

By 2009, they began to sell their first Panamanian Cobia. They control nearly the entire process from the hatchery to to sales, though they …

Japan, Morocco, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Puerto Rico, Scotland, Turkey, Vietnam and many more. Though there may be plenty of conflict on the international stage, you won't find it at IBSS. Rather, you will discover that a shared love for seafood brings people from all over the world together without dissension or enmity.

4. It is a business event.

At the bottom line, all of the exhibitors and most of the attendees are there to engage in business, to make money. The exhibitors …

By Greg B. In my lifetime, I've had limited experience with good Caribbean food, but I still know it when I see it (or rather, taste it). The most recent time was on my trip to Puerto Rico last July, where I had several days to explore the east and north sides of the island, [...]

I am afraid that Havana 1957 is best known for its overpriced mojitos and sunburned tourists. If you want to stay on South Beach, you can go classic grunge with the iconic Puerto Sagua (700 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-673-1115) or, a few blocks away, the recently renovated David's Cafe ( 1058 Collins Ave.; 305-534-8736, www.davidscafe.com), which also has a location just off …

When I passed this group of young adults talking about wine and filming their adventure, I had to ask permission to take a picture for you all. I wanted to prove that it is there (in Puerto Rico) what it is here in the US... a civilized way of life. So, let's just first say [...]

…never been exposed to it and have never thought to seek it out, despite a love of Cuban, Jamaican, Puerto Rican, and other styles of cooking that are collectively Caribbean but so individually unique. I can't wait to try out the recipe for queue de boeuf , which combines two of my favorite things that never made Julie Andrews' list: habaneros and oxtails.

The book is a great read for either short or long stretches and builds upon a unique strength possessed by the authors. …

…of available surface area on the island, from murals to neckties. That flair travels to the polls: Puerto Ricans vote at some of the highest rates in the Western Hemisphere.

Over the last decade, candidates in Central Florida running for offices at all levels have tried to mobilize the rapidly growing Puerto Rican community by adopting the caravana tradition. But unlike in Puerto Rico, where caravans can go on for hours in a stream of joyful noise, a Floridian homage can …

I was in a San Juan, Puerto Rico Salsa club last week and overheard somebody mention how the locals dance like rock stars . I wished someone from the local Salsa mafia had dragged me onto that floor and showed me the right moves, similar to the way I hoped McIntryre would have slipped me a rich, more cranked up idea or two for truly drinking wine like a rock star in 2012. While San Juan Salsa rooms are infectious happy places, joining the coordinated dancing masses can be entirely …
