…that it hasn't been entered into international wine competitions yet, but my bet is on awards in the future.

If you're looking for recommendations about B.C. whites, Washington wine expert Paul Gregutt gives full marks to "gems such as Sperling Old Vine riesling, Le Vieux Pin sauvignon blanc and Poplar Grove pinot gris."

Cheers!

The 2012 Helfrich Pinot Gris is 100% Pinot Gris, with a slight smokey flavor in addition to flavors of quince and apricot.

The 2011 Helfrich Pinot Gris Grand Cru was also made from 100%, with the vineyard facing south and at an altitude between 600 and 1000 feet. The soil is loam covering a hard calcareous bedrock. It is dry farmed (the law in Alsace) - Very round with well balanced acidity.

The 2009 Helfrich Gewurztraminer Grand Cru really knocked me out . It was rich …

…country — everyone knows that! But let me tell you a secret. It's Pinot Gris ( PG), not just Pinot Noir. Pinot Gris is Oregon's #2 wine grape variety and its a darn useful one, too. Pinot Gris is what I call a Chateau Cash Flow variety, since the time from harvest to market is shorter than Pinot Noir and the production expense (think expensive oak barrels) is lower, too. No doubt about it, Oregon PG is a great wine for producers and consumers.

Colmar region. The soil and the climate is very well suited for riesling, gewurztraminer and pinot gris. Pfersigberg is a little bit bigger, 74.55 hectares. The exposure is east-south-east and particularly sunny. Gewurztraminer is the main grape on Pfersigberg.

…something, making the great experiences even more meaningful. Yesterday when tasting through the 50 or so Pinot Grigio wines, I was a little surprised to realize that my favorite ones were the inexpensive offerings. The Delle Venezie wines, often declassified Collio, showed style and brevity. I don't want a Pinot Grigio to taste like a Gavi, a Tocai or a Verdicchio. I'm looking for a non-distracted reflection of simplicity. With 50 or so offerings, they were all there. …

…37%), muscat ( 20.5%), gewürztraminer ( 19.5%), pinot gris ( 19%) and chardonnay ( 4%). Made all in stainless steel, the wine offers a shimmering pale straw color; aromas of jasmine and honeysuckle, lemon balm and lemon curd, greengage and yellow plums and peaches entice the nose, opening to slightly leafy and grassy elements and a hint of bee's-wax. The wine is delicate, clean and crisp and to the citrus and yellow fruit adds traces of tangerine and pear, with, in the spicy, stony …

Recently, we had the opportunity to taste the 2012 Traditions Pinot Gris and the 2010 The Estates Cabernet Sauvignon in a blind samples tasting . Both wines are very good, but we especially enjoyed the Pinot Gris. It is crisp and refreshing and an excellent wine for late spring and summer.

Milbrandt Vineyards consistently offers a lineup of good quality wines that deliver serious bang for your buck.

Seem to be a lot of NZ Gris made in a full tilt, sweeter style.
