…made throughout Virginia, including Lake Anna Winery, Peaks of Otter Winery, The Williamsburg Winery, Horton Vineyards, Trump Winery and others.

Artisans were as varied as the grape varietals, such as paintings by Christopher Mize and hand-painted wine glasses by Team Spirits.

There were also vendors and wine -focused seminars by Total Wine & More. Musical entertainment was provided by Lewis McGehee and his daughter, Kaycee.

…continued to impress. Another winery that I really enjoyed both offerings was Snowy Peaks Winery , who were pouring a Petite Sirah and the Elevee Blanc ( 60% Viognier & 40% Roussanne). Once again, kudos for evening producing this Rhone blend. Finally, another favorite were the wines from Denver based The Infinite Monkey Theorem . Their white was a local alcohol refreshing IMT Riesling whereas their red, the IMT 100th Monkey is a unique blend of …

…then the storm cleared for a while and we could see the snow capped San Francisco Peaks over by Flagstaff. Later we hit sand and dust storms going through Desert Center, and then more driving rain, which washed the remnants of the sand-blasted paint off the front fenders. :-) Not really, JK about the sandblasted paint, though I'm pretty sure it did happen to Andy Anderson after a long, circuitous sales trip to the midwest.

As Always,

Color ado wine we really enjoyed was the Rhone blend made from Snowy Peaks Winery from Estes Park. Their Grand Valley " Eleve" consists of Syrah, Mourvedre, Cinsault, and Viognier. Incredible that these grapes can flourish in the Grand Valley. Finally, we met Dr. Ron Bitner, one of the first growers in Idaho and owner of Bitner Vineyards in Caldwell. We enjoyed his Snake River Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve whe re the grapes are harvested …

Last week, when we reviewed the Ancient Peaks cabernet sauvignon , I was singing the praises of cabernet sauvignon from Paso Robles. So, I thought it would be good to highlight yet another fine Paso Robles cabernet.

This one comes from Villa San-Juliette , a brand we've tasted before. This brand is owned by the producers of American Idol, and many other shows. But thankfully, they've hired a professional winemaker to do the actual wine making, rather than having television executives play vintners in real life.

First up was a $ 9.99 option from California. The Seven Peaks Pinot Noir was one of my Thanksgiving recommendations , and it carried over to the Holidays. I feel for $ 10, it offers a nice, fruit driven pinot noir that most wine drinkers and non wine drinkers alike will enjoy. I mentioned previously that this wine was made by Deloach Vineyards. The Seven Peaks label is owned Jean-Charles Boisset , also the owner of Deloach vineyards. The winemakers are Bill Arbios

syrah, 31% malbec and 23% petit verdot from Ancient Peaks Winery in Paso Robles .

This wine is a deep, dark purplish-red color with incredible density. It's almost inky in appearance. The nose is just as powerful as the wine is dark, with intense aromas of nutmeg, cedar, plum and chocolate covered cherry. The palate continues the bold theme of this wine, with jammy fruit flavors, like cherry and plum. And I do mean jammy. Wowee, this wine is so dense it's …

…enough to go with white meats, but acidic and heavy enough to go with beef if you want. The Seven Peaks is produced by Deloach , makers of fine Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. The Seven Peaks had good fruit, berry and strawberry, with a little spice on the finish. It probably isn't going to wow Burgundian pinot noir fans, it was a bit concentrated and jammy for my palate, the weight and acidity, again, make it a great wine for your Thanksgiving feast. Additionally, for …
