I loved the wine and at $ 35.00 it is well priced for a Napa Valley Meritage. It holds its own against considerably more expensive wines, which earns it a solid 25% rating on TWC's Standarized Price/Value Ratio . What that means is that the wine is as good as wines selling for 25% more.
The wine is an elegant wine, very opulent and dark in the glass. There are subtle aromas of blackberry, violets, leather, and bing cherry, all of which carry through to the palate. …

It's funny that I label this as " Napa Valley" when it's produced in Knights Valley, but it really does have more in common with Napa than Sonoma. Unfortunately this was cloyingly sweet and medicinal when first opened; probably lightly corked. With over two hours of air the funk blew mostly off. The nose is muted but shows prune and sweet cocoa. Semi-sweet blackberry, powdered sugar, and maraschino cherry. Medium-length and medium body. Personally I preferred the 2000 vintage.

…Carl Zatz, said that he has "always enjoyed good wine." But it was when he lived in the Napa Valley region in northern California for several years in the 1990s that he fell "in love with wine-tasting and the wine tourism there."
When he moved back, he tried to sample some of the local wines where he grew up in New Jersey and then in Virginia. "They just didn't taste good." When he and his family moved to Gardiner several years ago and he went to visit …
Heritage studied and did an internship at wineries in Napa Valley, Calif., before coming home to take his place in the family business.
"When I talked to the guys out there, there was no argument if climate change is actually happening," he said. "They are extremely concerned about climate change within 10-year increments. It's definitely an issue that is affecting vineyards."
According to Heritage, areas like Napa Valley and Bordeaux, France — traditionally …

I like rosé wine, but for the longest time I didn't think California had many good ones. There were all sorts of problems. I found a Renwood 2005 "too watery for recommendation," a fairly common problem for a type of wine that's delicate to begin with. Another set of issues arose with a Dominari 2005, from Napa Valley: "heavy, with bizarre medicinal flavors and a sugary finish." That's pretty common, too. I'm not sure what causes the medicinal stuff, …
…Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville
Layered aromas of graphite, kirsch, cassis, dark chocolate and tobacco. I was not at all expecting how refined and nuanced this was going to be on the palate, in fact I found it to be quite compellingly balanced. The fruit is beautiful and has real depth to it as well as plenty of character. I'd love to see it in another decade or so, but realistically probably won't get the chance to do so! This was …
