Greywacke Riesling 2011, Marlborough, New Zealand. 12% alc. Brilliant pale gold color; lychee and a touch of petrol, roasted lemon, spiced pear and honeysuckle, hint of lilac face powder; very dry, lean and clean, irresistible texture combining brisk acidity with lovely soft ripeness that does not preclude the glacial authority of crystalline limestone minerality. Excellent. About $ 25.

Vineyards " Kerner Estate" Pinot Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand $ 18.99

An excellent growing season yielded small, clean berries from Pyramid Valley's Kerner Estate Vineyard for this 2010 Pinot Blanc. The grapes were hand-harvested and whole-cluster pressed and fermented on native yeast in old French oak puncheons. From the winery: "Pale yellow gold. Leesy/biscuity fermentative notes, with a lemon custard sort of high-tone comfort; also a subtle, …

2012 Fromm Riesling, Marlborough, New Zealand $ 18.99

Fromm is well known for their spectacular Rieslings. This wine is made in a Spätlese style at 7.5% Alc and 94g/L of Residual Sugar. The wine is so concentrated and powerful. Tons of honeyed apricot and tangy preserved lemon is punctuated by lime zest acidity. Some subtle river stone mineral notes and citrus peel linger on the very long finish. This wine is very young, forward and primary right now, despite it being …

Beamsville Bench white wine, even if it bears little resemblance to the Loire or Marlborough. Good on her, this angel, "she gives me kisses on the lips just for coming home." 88

Michael Godel writes a mean tasting note! Not my style, but witty and stylish, although I don't get the Jack Johnson thing. There is a Hawaiian musician of that name , but we have no way of knowing if he's the one Michael Godel refers to. Quite frankly, my dears, I have little …

Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc 2011 , Marlborough, New Zealand. 35386 13% XD 750 ml $ 18.95

Drink Wine and Giggle Gals rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review: Natalie introduced the Drink Wine and Giggle Gals to Kim Crawford in her book Red, White and Drunk All Over and now Kim has become one of the girls (even though the real Kim Crawford is a man). Kim's light-heartedness makes us giggle, but there is a depth of character that …
