Saunier, 78, built the business to include such venerable estates as Henri Jayer, Chateau Rayas, and Domaine Leroy. She has been hailed as a " rock star of the wine world " and an "importer extraordinaire." She and many of her producers will be featured in a documentary entitled "A Year in Burgundy," due out next year on DVD.

…out loud when I saw the wine. I mean really - to have the opportunity to drink a bottle of wine by Henri Jayer is an amazing thing. Jayer started farming vineyards, mostly in Vosne-Romanée, for 50 years or so. He never bottled all that he harvested, as a lot of the land he worked was owned by others, but he of course bottled his own wine too, and it was legendary during his time. I remember tasting some of Henri Jayer's (a canonized name in top Burgundy history) wines in the 80′s and wondering if I would ever enjoy as fulfilling a bottle of wine in my life, lamenting my dismissal of Burgundy might minimize those chances while protecting me from certain pricey buying miscues and insipid wines.
