Helena knew she'd started a trend and nothing was going to stop her exploiting it. Although idolised by women (among her many firsts was the creation of mascara as we know it today) Helena's ambition ruined all her relationships. She made it plain that she loved her empire more than she loved people.
Even pregnancies didn't get in the way of Helena's drive. In December 1909, aged 37, Helena gave birth to Roy. Horace followed in May 1912 when she was 40. Helena had …
…enjoyed this bottle with Stefan Blicker, of BPWines, St. Helena, who brought the 22-year-old Chateauneuf-du-Pape to lunch at one of my favorite local restaurants, Market.
I'd had 12 bottles of the 1990 vintage from a case I'd bought as a pre-arrival and everyone of the bottles from that case was a perfect 100-point wine.
I asked Stefan to share his only bottle of the 1990 Donjon, acquired with the contents of a wine cellar purchased from a California collector, with …
Residents of St. Helena lined both sides of Oak Street to watch the pet parade, which lasted about 45 minutes.
The pet parade is one of my favorite annual rituals in the valley; residents dress up their pets and march them before judges who award prizes for the top dog, so to speak.

Several Bassett hounds made appearances in the parade this year.

The first three sparkled from start to finish; McClain began slowly, then turned things up a few notches to rocket through the second act. Thomas and Brown engage in some rand physical comedy, and Brown is worth the price of admission when she storms about "the bounds of a maiden's passion." Chad Morris lit up the first scene as Hermia's father, showing …

The following article appeared in yesterday's edition of the St. Helena Star . The Judgement of Paris was such an important event in the history of California wine, it is hard to imagine that it may never have happened. Read on to see what I mean.

When Roy married Sally, he got Helena and Alfie as in-laws. Then he saw Dia through her bedroom window. Meanwhile, Sally got her dream job, and a shot at Greg, but Iris got there first. And after Helena and Alfie were divorced, he got Charmaine, a well-done dame and she got Cristal, a rare medium.

The following article appeared in this morning's edition of the St. Helena Star . It was an interesting tasting. While I didn't mention it in the article, the tasting took place at the Epic Roasthouse in San Francisco. It was a very nice setting, and the food they served at lunch was excellent. I highly recommend it.
